Game two is set to be played in May with the dates yet to be announced.
Strathmore Swords got their Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women's league best-of-three quarters playoffs off to a winning start against Storms in a match played on Sunday 23 April.
The Ronnie Owino-led Swords picked a 45-29 win, in a low-scoring encounter, having to overcoming an extremely slow start that had both sides go under ten points in a 5-3 outcome in the first quarter.
"It was a tough match, we did not really play well. We didn't execute well on offense, we missed easy baskets but we still managed to grind a win. This being a playoff, any win is welcome so we will take it. Hopefully in game two we will improve and play better for a more convincing win," coach Owino offered.
The tactician says individual defense was their main undoing.
"We allowed mid penetration and penetration on the sides. Our rotation on defense and communication was almost non-existent. We also missed layups under the rim that would have given us easy points.
We need to work on that in the next match so we can close the series. Storms are a good team with more experienced players than we are so we have to be careful in this next match," the tactician added.
