The league had initially been scheduled to resume on May 22 but later postponed with a new date set for June 5.
Local basketball enthusiasts have to wait longer to watch their favourite hoopers in action as Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) leagues failed to commence this weekend as earlier planned.
The Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) premier leagues will resume this weekend, ending weeks of uncertainty, fixture secretary Joseph Amoko has said.

The leagues were earlier anticipated to start on May 15 but failed to tip off..
The fixtures department had released fixtures for this and next weekend but action was postponed following a meeting of the premier league teams' managers.
"The general feeling was that teams are yet to comply withthe ministry of Sports' guidelines on resumption and they were given an extra week to do so. The league has been pushed to next weekend with a new fixture set to be released in due course. The league organisers have maintained that the venue remains the same, at the University of Nairobi (UoN), which has been chosen over Nyayo being an outdoor facility," explained one of the managers.
The last league was last played on March 21 before a presidential directive saw all sporting activities stopped until May 1. After the ban was lifted, the Ministry of Sports gave return-to-action guidelines two weeks later.
In their statement, the Ministry of Sports directed that all federations were to wholesomely test all players at their costs with further guidelines to strictly lock out fans from their activities. The federations had also been ordered to submit weekly returns of covid-19 tests carried on active athletes.
Meanwhile, the Nairobi Basketball Association (NBA) league is expected to resume on June 12.
"Following the successive and consultative communication with the Federation, I am pleased to inform you that the NBA league resumes on the 12th of June 2021. With all the Covid 19 protocols in place, we will expect teams to vacate the venue immediately after their games end. Fixtures will be out shortly," read communication to NBA teams from the league's fixtures secretary Caleb Osewe.
