The driver has won three of nine events, finished second in five and third at the Kasarani leg of the Autocross season.
Two Wheel Drive Non-Turbo car leader Rajveer Thethy and closest competitor Sam Karangata are set to do battle at the Kenya National Autocross Championship which returns to Jamhuri Park racetrack this Sunday 28 November.
Karangatha, who has won three of the nine events held so far, picking podium finishes in the other six is hoping to make his final race of the season count and pick his fourth victory against tough competition.
The title was always going to come down to the two. Their lead has swapped over a number of times and currently the gap is at 9 points. At the VCCCK round at Jamhuri Park, Karangata came really close to a win with a gap of a mere 0.079 seconds after technical issues with his brakes and a tyre blow out.
"With all issues sorted ,we are looking forward to enjoying the final event of the season at Jamhuri for the third time this year and get the win. We have prepared the car the best way possible. It will be almost impossible to win the championship as the point gap means Rajveer has to finish in fourth or worse for us to win. A ninth leg victory would have gave us a chance at the title but since we missed it we will do the best to finish the season on a high," explained Karangatha.
While the title might have slipped from the Engineer by profession, he appreciates the season that was.
"It has been great to see many new drivers in the 2WD class this year. It has been the most interesting season I have competed. We have never had a competition this close at this stage of the season. We also had new tracks like Mombasa and Gilgil as well as a repeat of Jamhuri and that made the season more interesting.
We had to improve our car to keep.up with the competition and handle handle different tracks Making it through all events of the season when we thought we could not early in the season has been special. We have had immense support from among other Azar Anwar and Xtreme Kenya Racing Team and I am grateful to them," added the driver.
