The award was a perfect celebration and culmination of a successful year in 2022 where Patel was the driver to beat in the Kenyan and continental scene.
In 2022, he won a total of 10 events in Kenya and across the continent and was crowned the KNRC champion at Mwatate’s Teita Sisal estates with victory in the season-closing Guru Nanak round.

In addition to the overal KNRC trophy, he also won the Division One and on the gala night he was also awarded for the deserved double.
Away from home, Patel missed the Africa Rally Championship(ARC) title by a whisker as Zambian Leroy Gomes won it ahead of the now RedBull athlete.
