The swimming course is set to inculcate water polo into its curriculum in the near future
Genesis Swimming Club’s head coach Alex Kaindi is the latest coach to take advantage of the Kenya Swimming Teachers and Coaches Association (KSTCA) Coaching Course in the country.
The Swim Safe Kenya graduate and alumnus on Friday announced that he will be undertaking the Level 2 Swimming Coaching Course set to begin on Monday 4 December at Westlands Primary School.
The upcoming coaching course, expected to attract coaches nationwide - drawing them from clubs, schools, institutions, sports students and Associations - will also include a Level 1 course, one of which Genesis’ swimmer Rodgers Tobiko is expected to undertake, having confirmed his interest earlier this week.
Kaindi, who draws inspiration from Kenya’s accredited World Aquatics referee and Secretary General of Kenya Aquatics Collins Marigiri, has been a key figure in the national scene, acting as one of the instrumental managers and planners of the Kiambu, Nyeri and Kilifi County Association meets.
His recent contribution was seen during the Kenya Aquatics Time Trials in November, where he served as part of the officiating crew at the Kasarani Swimming pools.
Praising Kaindi’s “commitment to swimming coaching and development,” veteran swimming instructor and course facilitator Vincent Gichamba on Friday also revealed plans by KSTCA to introduce water polo into their curriculum.
The new development is expected to not only broaden the skills of local coaches, but to also enrich the aquatics industry.
