
Home shooters dominate Kenya Open Level 3 IPSC Championship in Samburu

Gerald Edo of Spain was the sole foreign winner in the Production Optics category, and also won the overall international category
Kenya shooters dominated the two-day Kenya Open Level 3 IPSC Championship which culminated at the Shaba Shooting Range in Samburu on Sunday.
Ibrahim Ndungu of Bamburi Shooting Club won the Production category while DCI shooter and Kenya Number 1 lady shooter Agnes Muchiri emerged victorious in the ladies category after trouncing over Carol Kiania of Chalbi Club and Irene Wanjiku to the scintillating podium tussle.
She was the top lady in the early morning session on Sunday with 977 match points, oozing confidence from her opening shot as she posted a hit factor of 5.23 on Bay 1 and 4 -flat on the 13th Bay while Ndungu savored an early morning run with a cumulative total of 1270 match-points, posting his best hit factor of 8.05 and 6.6 on Bay 1 and Bay 3 respectively.

Ndung’u on the other hand beat Inspector Allan Mohammed of National Police Service and Thomas Kiiru to second and third positions respectively.
The Standard category honors went to Samuel Tata with Sammy Onyango and Robert Nyamongo finishing second and third respectively.
Chalbi Club dominated the podium in the Pistol Cabin Caliber (PCC) as Maundu Manda racked up the top honors followed by teammates Eric Cherongisi and Adam Suleiman
Open Class honors went to Sunny Syang of Kenya Regiment Rifle Shooting Club (KRRC).
The Shaba shooting range championship competition (IPSC) has kicked off today in Samburu County. This world class tournament has attracted about 100 countries.

The International Category was taken by Gerald Edo of Spain followed by Pang Jun and Oscar Topera of Zimbabwe.
Senior winners were Samuel Tata, James Thuo (first runner up) and Sunny Syang (second runner up).
While closing the event, Sports Minister Amb (Dr) Amina Mohamed called on Kenyan shooting organizers to run their events to international standards.
“The commitment shown by all and sundry in making this event a success was huge. I am glad that the international body (IPSC) has expressed interest in hosting events in Kenya. We hope that Kenya will be hosting international events here and make this range a shooting hub in Africa,” she said.
