The seven-time champion, 38, signs a new two-year contract

Lewis Hamilton has signed a new Formula 1 contract with Mercedes, keeping the seven-time world champion at the team until at least the end of the 2025 season.

Hamilton, 38, signed a two-year contract extension, Mercedes announced Thursday ahead of the Italian Grand Prix.

It ensures Hamilton, who joined Mercedes in 2013, will keep racing in F1 until he is at least 40. He is currently the second-oldest driver on the grid after Fernando Alonso.

"Continuing with our current driver lineup was a straightforward decision," Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff said.

"We have the strongest pairing on the grid and both drivers are playing a crucial role in the team to move us forward. The strength and stability they provide will be key building blocks for our future success."

Asked about the new deal, the driver said:

"We have never been hungrier to win. We have learned from every success but also every setback. We continue to chase our dreams, we continue to fight no matter the challenge and we will win again.

"I'm grateful to the team who have supported me both on and off the track. Our story isn't finished, we are determined to achieve more together and we won't stop until we do," concluded he.
