Youngster Marlene Tata who led KCB to the Cup title was named women's MVP

Simion Kipkorir, back with his mother club General Service Unit (GSU) for the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) Cup competition, proved a real game changer, dragging his side to victory against a stubborn Kenya Defence Forces (KDF).

Kipkorir lifted GSU from a slow start that had them trailing 2-0 in the opening sets, with the third one coming threateningly close to heading KDF's way.

GSU found themselves trailing 23-21 down the stretch, and all looked done, but the mentality monsters kept knocking, tying the score at 24 and there was a glimmer of hope. The Gideon Tarus-led paramilitary side drained two more points for a 26-24 victory, making it a 2-1 game.

Given half a chance, Tarus' charges were not making the same mistake twice and they went out hard to level the sets before completing the job in the decider set for 3-2(25-22,26-24,24-26,17-25, and 12-15).

Kipkorir, popularly known as 'Kosirai', who joined the squad from his professional stint in Saudi Arabia, was named Most Valuable Player (MVP).

Teammate Brian Melly took home the best setter award with Collins Muya of KDF being awarded the best opposite. Another Kenyan international Enock Mogeni, turning out for Kenya Ports Authority ((KPA) was named best server.

League MVP Nicholas Matui settled for best outside hitter as teammate Hudson Kipchumba scooped the best libero gong. Sensational Sirengo of KDF was named best middle blocker.
