Esperance come as one of the big contenders for the title. The 4-time champions dream of a fifth crown in their homelands ain the absence of record holders Ahly.

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men's league holders General Service Unit (GSU) face Nigeria Customs today in a must-win encounter if their dream of reaching the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) men's club championship quarters is to remain afloat.

The Gideon Tarus-coached GSU had to face the highly ranked Zamalek in their opener on Sunday, 18 April, as the 20-team showpiece served off, going down 3-0 to the five-time African champions.

For the match today, Nigeria Customs come to the match on the back of a 3-1 win over the other group D participants Espoir of Democratic Republic of Congo.

"I was impressed with how my players handled the Zamalek match. We played well. Zamalek are a good side so we accepted the outcome and shifted our focus to the remaining group matches that are a must-win. We will play our best as our chances at qualify for quarters depend on it," said coach Tarus.

“We have not played any of the two teams in previous competitions but we had a chance to watch their match on Sunday and that gave us insights on how to handle the match. Customs are a good side and we will have to have precision in our reception and blocks if we are to clinch that crucial win,” he added.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), on their part, face what could be their biggest challenge on their debut as they play Esperance of Tunisia, who are fresh from winning the local Tunisian double of the league and cup.

Esperance come as one of the big contenders for the title. The 4-time champions dream of a fifth crown in their homelands and the absence of record holders Ahly gives them a good chance.

The Sammy Mulinge-coached dockers began the championship on a winning note as they saw off his former employers APR of Rwanda in a 3-2 outcome.
