
GSU continue unbeaten run as Trailblazers stun Equity

The KVF champions are looking to defend the title they won last season against tough opposition from among other Prisons Kenya and KPA.
Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men's league champions General Service Unit (GSU) managed to subdue their toughest opponent in the second leg for maximum points to keep their hopes of title defence alive.
The Gideon Tarus-led paramilitary side faced Prisons Mombasa and Kenya Defence Forces' (KDF) Ulinzi on Saturday and Sunday respectively , with the latter touted as their toughest opposition for the weekend.
In the first match against the Mombasa wardens, GSU picked a straight sets win in 25-18, 25-23 and 25-14.
Again nemesis KDF who had, in the last two meetings pushed the holders to the wall with five set thrillers, GSU were again the better side but not without a fight from the Elisha Aliwa-coached men.
GSU picked the first set 25-21 but KDF responded immediately with a set of their own, winning the second stanza 22-25. However, poor service became the order of day for KDF and came back to haunt the side.
The third set was a whitewash for Aliwa's men, going down without much of a fight at 25-14. The fourth set began in a see-saw of scores but GSU pulled away after four scores to create a five-point buffer that KDF never recovered from as they lost 25-20.
Coming into the GSU match, Aliwa's charges picked 3-1( 25-13, 13-25, 25-17, 25-22) win over Kenya Forest Service (KFS).
Meawhile, newbies Trailblazers who have drawn a number of their key players from Equity Bank announced their preference in the league with a 5-2(23-25, 25-18, 15-25, 26-24 and 16-14) stunning of Equity Bank.
However, former champions pumped breaks on the debutants, subjecting them to their first defeat of the season and league in a 3-0( 25-19, 25-18, 25-20) outcome.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), on their part, made their trip to Nairobi count, coming from a set down to win 3-1 (22-25, 25-16, 25-17 and 25-17) against Prisons Nyanza.
