In a statement released ahead of the games, KSSSA President Mr. Kipchumba Maiyo set an inspiring tone, emphasizing the transformational power of school sports.
He welcomed participants and fans to “the home of culture, vibrance, and sporting excellence,” underscoring the games’ role as a transformative platform.
“These games represent far more than competition,” said Maiyo. “They are a platform of transformation. They offer an avenue through which we discover talents, inculcate values, and nurture the spirit of discipline, teamwork, and resilience.”
Maiyo highlighted the story of Aldrine Kibet, a former secondary school athlete who sealed a move to Spanish LaLiga club Celta Vigo, as a testament to the potential of these championships to change lives.
He also addressed challenges, notably the need for timely student registration on the KEMIS and KSSSA portals.
“Let it be known that these systems are designed not as barriers, but as safeguards against fraudulent fielding and to ensure that only genuine students participate,” he urged, calling for early compliance to streamline operations. He emphasized adherence to the KSSSA Constitution and the official appeal process to maintain fairness.
