The KCB left attacker has become a main player for her club and is working her way to assuming such a responsibility at the national team level.

Juliana Namutira has embraced the nickname 'Bulldozer', a name she was given by coach Japeth Munala while still in high school.

Her strong attacks have not just won heart in school but also in the local league where her performance for Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and now KCB has not gone unnoticed.

On her first call up to the national team, Malkia Strikers, the youngster made the final squad for the FIVB Challenger Cup in France and this year's CAVB African Nations Championship in Yaounde, Cameroon.

She made her debut for the team in the continental championship, albeit scarcely used, but her desire to make get better has been aroused and; the only way is up, she says.

"Being with the team in camp from Kenya to Morocco and France and back in Cameroon has been a learning experience for me. I did not look at the playing time I got but at what I was gaining with this kind of training.

Training alongside experienced players who have competed at the highest level, against some of rhe best players in the world was eye opening.

It gave me a different perspective on the game so did getting coached by Luizomar de Moura and his team. I am a different player now and I can only get better. I will get better and be ready to showcase my talent whenever called upon, " Namutira said.

As the left attacker returns home a champion, she is hopeful that her improvement will grant her an opportunity to be part of the team in the next assignment.
