French Ligue 1 launches second edition of e-sports competition in Kenya

The winner from the Kenyan qualifiers will travel to France to compete for the €8000 (slightly over Ksh 1 Million) cash prize and will also get to attend several Ligue 1 matches

Gamers in Kenya will have another glorious chance of travelling all the way to France and fight for a share of over Ksh1,000,000 cash prize as the eLigue1 Tour, an international esports competition organized by Ligue 1 Uber Eats, makes its return to the country for the second edition.

After successfully being hosted in 2022, the competition, organized by Ligue 1 Uber Eats who are the French top tier governing body in collaboration with EA Sports, makes its return to the country seeking to expand on its first outing.

"We are pleased to announce the return of the eLigue 1 Tour, an international esports competition organized by Ligue 1 Uber Eats, in collaboration with EA SPORTS.

This great esports competition shall see Kenyan gamers battle for a chance to win a fully paid trip to Paris, France courtesy of Ligue 1 Uber Eats where they will compete in the eLigue 1 Tour Finals with a prize pool of €8000," Index G CEO Ronny Lusigi said.

In the competition that is open to all gamers and football fans residing in Kenya who are above the age of 16, qualifiers are scheduled to kick off on February 26th 2023 for the first round and are expected to close on March 11, 2023 with the final, with the games being played at Alliance Francaise in Nairobi.

The global eLigue 1 Tour Finals are planned for Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the Freaks 4U Gaming studios in Paris.

Beyond the competition, the finalists will have the chance to enjoy an unforgettable weekend at the heart of Ligue 1 Uber Eats where they will attend top flight matches in VIP conditions, backstage tours of the stadiums and visits of different French cities.

"Last year we had a successful competition. The grand finals streamed on YouTube had over 33,000 viewers. We are looking forward to a better competition this time and I am calling on Kenyan gamers to seize this opportunity,"

The prizes for the Kenyan qualifiers includes the following:

1st placed- Ksh. 25000

1st runner up-15000

2nd runner up 10000

4th place Ksh 5000

The prize for the Global aLigue Tour finals in France are as follows:

€4,000-1st Place

€1,500 2nd Place

€750-3-4th Place

€250-5-10th Place

In France, the Kenyan champion shail face the champions from North America, Latin America and Morocco.
