Five Kenyan Schools will grace the Kigali Mini International Games slated for this weekend in neighboring Rwanda.
The schools, which include: Mustard Seed International School, St. Christopher’s School Nanyuki, Rusinga Schools, Lukenya Academy and St. Christopher’s School Karen, are set to compete in different sports in what is described as “a fast-growing multi-sport festival that’s reshaping the future of youth sports across Africa.”
Some of the sports the teams will be taking part in are among them: swimming, modern dance, taekwondo, skating, chess and archery.
Event Coordinator David Weru expects an electric and exciting gala saying: “We’re bringing together top talent from Kenya, Uganda and Rwanda—and this is just the beginning. We expect more countries to join in future editions.”
Two more editions are currently scheduled for next term, and are set to be hosted in June and July.
The first edition will be in Kenya’s coast region, with the other in Runda.
Thereafter, a grand finale will follow in Arusha, Tanzania in December.
“The momentum is unstoppable,” Weru, also a champion of the International Mini Games, said. “We’re opening up opportunities, shaping futures, and giving Africa’s youth a stage to shine.”
Besides the event, the young Kenyan athletes will have the opportunity to visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial to learn about Rwanda’s inspiring journey of healing, and experience the charm of Africa’s cleanest city, nestled in its iconic green hills.
