Kenya Lionesses and Troy Trojans power forward Felmas Koranga was on Saturday night honored as a part of a group of senior players that were making their last home appearance in the Sun Belt Conference League.

Dubbed as the Troy Women’s Basketball Seniors Day – where senior college players about to graduate make their last home appearance for the school- the trio of Amber Leggett, Jade Walton and Felmas Koranga were accorded a special moment to celebrate the accomplishment.

In a video posted on Twitter, the three players made their way into the court pre-game and were presented with a bouquet of flowers and picture frames with their names and images engraved on them.

To mark the special night, Troy Women’s basketball went on to rally from a 31-38 halftime deficit to defeat visiting Appalachian State 73-66 at the Trojan Arena.

The Trojans outscored the Mountaineers 25-7 in the fourth quarter led by outstanding performances from Makayia Hallmon and Ja’Mia Hollings who scored 17 and 16 points respectively.

Felmas Koranga did not feature in the game due to injury.

The result puts the Trojans in a two-way tie on top of the Sun Belt Conference League with James Madison with only two games to the end of the regular season.

Felmas Koranga joined Troy University from Tyler College in April 2020 where she was undertaking a Masters in Clinical Mental Health Counselling. Koranga also holds a degree in Psychology.

In her three years at Troy, Koranga has gone on to win multiple individual awards ranging from 2021 SBC Newcomer of The Year, All Sun-Belt Conference 2nd team selection to her latest gong – SBC Preseason Player of the Year late last year.

The 2021 Africa Zone V games power forward of the tournament has also led her school to an SBC title and a trip to the NCAA tournament.

Troy Trojans next play Southern Miss at Hattiesburg on Wednesday night before travelling to Alabama to play Southern Alabama on Friday night.
