The NCBA Golf Series returns this weekend on Saturday, May 25th, 2024, as the 'Home of Golf' - Muthaiga Golf Club hosts the sixth leg of the Series.
The Series is making a comeback after a brief hiatus caused by inclement weather conditions affecting various golf courses. Organizers expect over 200 golfers to grace the championship Muthaiga course, renowned for its challenging par-71 layout. These golfers will vie for coveted slots to compete in the grand finale of the Series later in the year.
Ahead of the event, NCBA Group Managing Director, John Gachora, expressed his excitement, saying,
"As we return to Muthaiga for the next leg of the NCBA Golf Series, I am thrilled to witness the passion and skill of our golfers on display. This tournament not only showcases the best of Kenyan golf but also embodies our commitment to supporting the growth and development of the sport in our community. I look forward to a weekend filled with memorable moments on the course."
Muthaiga Club Captain, Bo Ciera, added, "We are delighted as Muthaiga Golf Club to be hosting the NCBA Golf Series once again. NCBA has been a key partner of the club for a long time now, and we are very delighted that they have given us this opportunity to be part of the series. Our course is in impeccable condition, ready to challenge and inspire golfers of all levels. With the support of our partner NCBA and the enthusiasm of our players, I am confident that this tournament will be a memorable one."
The tournament offers an opportunity for six standout performers to secure their slots at the NCBA Golf Series 2024 Grand Finale. These slots will be awarded to the Division 1 Male and Female Winners, Division 2 Male and Female Winners, the Overall Winner of Division 3, and the top performer in the Junior category.
Simultaneously, the NCBA U.S. Kids Golf Fall Local Tour tournament continues at the same venue, with at least 186 junior golfers aged between 5 and 18 years old participating. This tournament, jointly organized by U.S. Kids Golf and the Junior Golf Foundation Kenya, aims to refine the skills and enhance the competitiveness of junior golfers while offering them a chance to qualify for international tournaments organized by U.S. Kids Golf.
The event has seen success with seven major events conducted at various clubs, including Limuru Country Club, Sigona Golf Club, Karen Country Club, Vet Lab Sports Club, and Windsor Golf Club, despite some clubs being affected by floods.
Kimani Gicheru, JGF tournament director, extended gratitude to NCBA for their support, emphasizing the significant contribution to young talent development in golf. He also commended junior golfers for their commitment and thanked parents for their dedication to their children's participation in tournaments.
