Action continues on Sunday with KPA men up against Nairobi City Thunder while the ladies team is set to plag Kisumu Lakeside.
Coach Sammy Kiki guided his charges Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) men to a convincing 68-38 win over University of Nairobi (UoN) Terror in the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) league matches played in Mombasa.
The dockers were making a return to league action since taking a break in January and coach Kiki was wary of the team's fitness after the long layoffs.
However, the defending champions had a great start, going 15-04 up in the first quarter and we're ahead 37-16 going to the break.
There was no turning back for Kiki's men as they extended their lead from 21 to 30 in the second half to get their return off to a good start.
"We had a good game. The squead displayed great basketball despite being away for long. I am happy for the win as it sets the pace for the remaining fixtures.
Although we did not play very well in the fourth quarter, I am not worried since maybe the players saw the gap and they decided to relax which is okay seeing as we play a tough match on Sunday," Kiki offered.
Meanwhile the women's league match pitting KPA against UoN Dynamites went as expected with the hosts dominating as theh handed the varsity side a humiliating 105-15.
KPA were already ahead 33-09 in the first quarter and 56-15 at halftime.
In something akin to a video game, KPA were not only able to a thrash the varsity side over a century in points, theh managed to totally subdue the students and deny them any scoring chances on the entire second half.
