Kenya had been pooled alongside Cameroon, Sierra Leone and Mali - all gunning for a spot in the T20 finals
The East-West Region qualifiers and T20 Final initially scheduled for 5-25 September this year have been postponed to a later date, the Africa Cricket Association has announced.
The decision came about after revelation that the majority of the participating teams’ visas had been delayed from being issued by the South African home affairs.
The communication - written by ACA Chief Executive Officer Cassim Suliman - also indicated that the South African home affairs server had been down for some time, and that the board and sponsors felt it necessary to postpone the event to a later date which will be communicated in due course.
“We will ensure to get a clear window not to interfere with any ICC events or any of your bilateral tournaments accordingly,” the letter added, mentioning that the organization was currently working on rearranging the event together with broadcasters.
Kenya, one of the participants in the tournament, were set to battle in the qualifying rounds in South Africa early next month, where the top four teams there were guaranteed a place in the finals that would also include winners from the Southern qualifiers.
T20 Africa North-west and Eastern Qualifier will be clubbed and will take place in August in Johannesburg, as per latest update. But nothing official yet has come from Africa Cricket Association (ACA) or the broadcast partner.

Alongside Kenya in the same pool were Cameroon, Mali and Sierra Leone, with the other pool of the North-Western qualifiers set to involve Rwanda, Ghana, Gambia and Nigeria.
Lameck Onyango’s side is currently in training at the Ruaraka Grounds, and sources indicated that training would continue for the better part of the months remaining, especially with possibility for the tournament returning being in November.
Kenya in the 2022 tournament secured two wins against Cameroon and Malawi in the group stages, and despite losing to neighboring Tanzania by four wickets, advanced to the knock-out stages, where they were eventually dismissed by eventual champions Uganda by three wickets via the Duckworth–Lewis–Stern method (DLS).
Uganda toppled Tanzania by eight wickets in the final on 22 September.
