
Comprehensive Swim Fitness dethrone Harpoons to win Kiambu Masters title

Comprehensive Swim Fitness Kenya were crowned the new champions of the Kiambu Aquatics Masters Championship after dominating the annual gala held at Potterhouse School - Runda over the weekend.
The Nairobi-based club topped the leaderboard with an impressive tally of 49 medals (nine gold, eight silver and 32 bronze) to upstage the 2023 defending champions Harpoons Swim Club, who came a close second with 46 medals (12 gold, 22 silver and 12 bronze).
United Swim Club Kenya rounded off the podium in third place, tallying 43 medals (18 gold, 17 silver and eight bronze).
Among the standout performers were Collins Jerry of NextGen Multi Sport Academy who topped the 25-29 men individual scores with 47 points, while Catriona Onyango of Blue Dolphins amassed 63 points in the same category for women.
In the older categories, 71-year-old Esther Kariuki hyped the spirit of the gala, completing her events with poise and determination.
She came third in the 60 and over women’s category with 26 points, finishing behind Sally Ndiri (62) and Constance Githinji (67).
Isaac Litaba, 64, of Harpoons took the men’s category, with Joseph Ndungu, who rounded up as the Event organiser, coming a close second with 24 points.
“Kiambu Aquatics has crafted a way of making Masters swimming popular in the country, and other counties should emulate the same,” Kenya Aquatics President Maureen Owiti said after the event.
“I am impressed to see corporations fielding their employees, which is a positive move for the country.”
Genesis Sports Limited and Yingfa Kenya were among the leading sponsors of the event, which drew a vibrant mix of veteran swimmers and first-time competitors to celebrate swimming as a lifelong sport.
Dr. Owiti also announced that the National Masters Swimming Championship, scheduled for 22 March 2025, would serve as trials for the World Aquatics Masters in Singapore.
Kenya water polo's team culminated the event with an excellent display of a game which is taking shape in the country ahead of the inaugural National Water Polo Tournament on 12 July 2025 at Kasarani.
