Both teams were eliminated out of contention for the Commonwealth Games slot after losing their semi-final matches
Kenya women's beach volleyball team finished third after seeing off Rwanda by two straight sets of 23-21 and 21-19 in the third-place playoff following their elimination in the semis by Ghana earlier in the African Commonwealth Games qualifiers in Accra, Ghana.
Their male counterparts only managed a fourth-place finish, falling Ghana in the third-place placement play-off, having been beaten to the final spot by South Africa in their last four duel.
Naomi Too and Veronica Adhiambo were the preferred pair for the qualifiers, with the Olympian duo of Brackxides Agala and Gaudencia Makokha sitting out.

The respective losses in the semifinals meant that Kenya's quest for a Commonwealth Games ticket came to an end for both the women's and men's teams, with only the eventual winners in the respective categories getting the only ticket up for grabs.
After winning two of their three group-stage matches, Too and Adhiambo faced Nigeria in the quarters, winning on straight sets to set a date with the hosts where they lost 2-1.

Ghana had won the first set 21-18 but the Kenyan ladies recovered to pick the second set 18-21 and set up a decider set but the hosts proved too strong winning it 15-9 for a 2-1 victory.
While Too and Adiambo won all their group matches, their men counterparts Ibrahim Oduor and James Mwaniki beat only Zambia but still managed a slot in the quarters.
