Elsewhere in Abuja, five KDF boxers will hunt for gold as they take to the ring for their respective final bouts
The Boxing Federation of Kenya (BFK) will from Monday 25 November host an International Boxing Association (IBA) coaches course that is set to run alongside a special 1-Star and 2-Star Referees and Judges course in Nairobi.
A host of Kenyan coaches are expected to take up the lessons in the course, which will be administered by course instructor Godavarisingh Rajcoomar from Mauritius.
The beginners' course - 1-star - will begin on Monday 25 November, taking up to five days.
Alongside Kenya, other participating nations will include Tanzania, Uganda and those in the Central African region.
Speaking of the honour of hosting the coaches, BFK President Anthony ‘Jamal’ Otieno told Nenez Media: “Huge thanks to IBA for giving us an opportunity to host the courses here. We're on the move to greater heights of achievement.”
At the same time, six Kenyan judges will take the IBA 2-star referees and judges course that kicked off on Saturday 23 November.
They include Nelson Otieno, Eddy Mwaura, Stephen Ndung’u, Leila Said, Samwel Obiero, and Hellen Wanjiku.
The six were part of eight judges who graduated from national to 1-Star referees in August after completing their IBA course in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The development, in addition to the efforts made by the Kenyan federation, shows a renewed commitment towards upskilling the level of officiating in the Kenyan amateur boxing scene.
Five in Military Games finals
Elsewhere at the 2nd Africa Military Games boxing tournament in Abuja, Nigeria, five Kenyan pugilists representing the Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) will on Monday 25 November aim to win gold as they take part in their final bouts.

Reigning African Games gold medalist Edwin Okong’o faces Libya’s Dawilu Asum as Frizah Anyango and Veronica Mbithe take on Esther Joseph (Nigeria) and 2016 Africa Olympic Qualifiers silver medalist Caroline Linus of Nigeria.
High-flying Kevin Maina will fight Algeria’s Mohammed Yacine, while Dennis Muthama will duel Uganda’s Japyem James.
