Chepchumba crowned MVP as Kenyan players dominate African volleyball awards

Moim, Adhiambo and Edith Wisa also feted in Kelibia

Sharon Chepchumba Kiprono of KCB was voted the Most Valuable Player from the just concluded CAVB African Women Club Championships in Kelibia, Tunisia.

Chepchumba led the Bankers to unprecedented glory by overcoming holders Al Ahly of Egypt 3-1 in the finals on Wednesday night.

The gruelling final was preceded by two vicious fixtures pitting KCB against Kenyan opposition in the shape of Kenya Prisons (Quarterfinals) and Kenya Pipeline (Semifinals).

In the awards ceremony held after the final, Chepchumba's teammate and experienced Kenyan international Mercy Moim was feted as the Best Outside Hitter.

She shared the gong with Kenya Pipeline's Veronica Adhiambo Oluoch while another one of KCB gems Edith Wisa was voted the Best Middle Blocker.

Best Setter's crown went to Sohila Sayid of Al Ahly whose title hold was crushed by the Bankers.

Fatma Ktari of CFC of Tunisia was named Best Libero.
