South African fighter Simiso Buthelezi suffered a punch from his rival Siphesihle Mntungwa in the fight for the lightweight title. Somehow it disoriented him entirely
Until last night, South African boxer Simiso Buthelezi had a remarkable record, without a single loss in his career. Moreover, the fight against Siphesihle Mntungwa - with the World Boxing Federation of Africa (WBF) lightweight title at stake - was heading in the perfect direction for Buthelezi.

But then, suddenly, everything changed. Buthelezi went groggy in the tenth round after taking a blow from Mntungwa.
Very scary in South Africa please 🙏🏼 for Simiso Buthelezi (4-1). At 2:43 of the 10th & final round, Siphesihle Mntungwa (7-1-2) falls through the ropes but then Buthelezi appears to lose his understanding of the present situation. Completely disoriented, the South African boxer began to fight against an invisible rival. The referee, noticing Buthelezi's disoriented state, immediately stopped the fight.
After the fight, Buthelezi was taken to hospital, where he was placed in an induced coma.
"Buthelezi is in stable condition, and in the coming days, more will be known about what could have caused a strange response," MARCA USA reports.
The defeat is the first in Buthelezi's career as Mntungwa recorded his seventh win and was crowned WBF lightweight champion in Africa.
