February is the month of love, and leading betting firm Mozzart Bet understood the assignment in the best way possible; by giving back to the sports community.

On Monday 3 February, the company through its initiative New Jerseys for New Champions extended its generosity to Kalesirwa Volleyball Team, a rising side based in Oloitoktok, Kajiado South by gifting them brand-new jerseys and volleyballs.

But these were not just any ordinary balls. They carried the signatures of Kenya’s women’s national volleyball team, Malkia Strikers, who are also proudly sponsored by Mozzart Bet.

For the young players on the slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. it was not just a donation but a source of inspiration.

Kalesirwa’s founder, Solomon Mutunkei, expressed his gratitude, noting that the support would go a long way in motivating the players.

"This is a huge boost for us. The new kits will give the team a fresh identity, and the signed balls from Malkia Strikers make it even more special. We are grateful to Mozzart Bet for believing in us," the visibly excited Mutunkei offered.

Team captain Jacob Nchama Banaati echoed his sentiments, emphasizing how the gesture has fueled their drive to perform even better.

"When you get support from such a big brand, it gives you confidence. The jerseys make us feel united, and playing with balls signed by our volleyball heroes is a dream come true. We thank Mozzart Bet for this incredible gift," Banaati said.

With their new kits and renewed morale, the Kalesirwa Volleyball Team is now looking to scale greater heights.

About Kalesirwa Volleyball Club

Founded in 2018, the team has rapidly grown into a beacon of hope and progress, not only for volleyball lovers but for the entire community.

Its origins are humble, born from the vision of Mutunkei, a local teacher who saw an opportunity to channel the boundless energy and strength of the Morans into a new, collective endeavour.

Having grown in the area, Mutunkei’s aim was not only to nurture the talents of young people but also to address the growing societal norms such as school dropouts and early pregnancies.

His idea was initially met with scepticism.

Volleyball was not a common sport in the region, and many questioned its viability but he remained undeterred.

He began by organizing informal matches, teaching the basics of the game to curious Morans who had never touched a volleyball before. His passion was contagious, and slowly but surely, interest grew.

In 2019, the team took on its biggest stage; the Governor’s Cup where they emerged champions of Kajiado South. That win saw them proceed to the county level where they finished fourth. Their hard work paid off as they received merchandise and balls from Governor Ole Lenku.

That victory was celebrated across Oloitoktok Town, and it attracted officials from the Kenya Prisons team who came in and offered a full scholarship to two of their boys; Maurice Anyika and Isaiah Kosei. The two study at Isinya Boys High School in Kajiado.

That triumph saw the team’s roster and reputation grow. Young men flocked to join, eager to be part of something bigger than themselves.

It has since become a platform for addressing broader social issues.
