The men's playoffs are likely to be put on hold after this weekend's matches to pave way for national team duty.

Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) Women's league champions Equity Hawks have their work cut out as they face Zetech Sparks in the best-of-five playoff semis begin Saturday 5 February at Nyayo Indoor Arena.

The David Maina-led side had an easy path to the semis, sweeping Africa Nazarene University (ANU) in the best-of-three quarters to book a date with the revamped varsity side.

Interesting clashes are expected between the two with the bankers boasting an experienced squad that has played together long enough to create enviable chemistry.

On their part, Maurice Obilo's charges have a mix of youth and experience with the youngsters injecting speed to their game. The tactician acknowledges that Maina's side holds the slight advantage due to their experience and ability to manage game situations, but promises not to go down without a fight.

In the other women's semis, former league champions and the Zone Five Club Championships title holders Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) face Storms, a match up that has the dockers as clear favourites.

Coach Antony Ojukwu has, in a previous interview, said that his side has the depth to go all the way to reclaiming the title they have lost to Hawks in the last two seasons.

In the men's matches, holders Ulinzi Warriors face off with 2017 league finalists Strathmore University Blades.

KPA men, keen to go all the way to the final and reclaiming the title they lost to the soldiers last season face first-time semi-finalists Equity Bank in a match up that has all the ingredients of a thriller.
