After 13 years: It's time for Thunder in the Finals

For the first time since 2012, Oklahoma will play in the NBA Finals after destroying Minnesota in Game 5 - 124-94

Thirteen years ago, Oklahoma City didn't stand a chance in the NBA Finals against Miami Heat's superteam, led by LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, and Chris Bosh. This season, the Thunder are the superteam and will play the NBA trophy series after over a decade, as they completely ruined Minnesota in Game 5 - 124-94.

Mark Daigneault's crew's ultimate triumph could have been hinted at already after the opening quarter, which Oklahoma won 26-9! Yes, you read it right - Anthony Edwards' six and Julius Randle's three points were everything the Timberwolves managed to do in the first 12 minutes of the match.

By the break, Oklahoma were already 33 points up, and the celebration in Paycom Center could begin. Minnesota managed to slightly soften the blow in the second half, though the poor impression they left in the Western Conference Finals and their second consecutive 4-1 defeat on the penultimate step towards the title will remain.

The MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander once again led the Thunder with 34 points, followed by his "partners in crime," Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams, who poured on 22 and 19 points, respectively.

Among the subpar T-Wolves, Randle with 24, and Edwards with 19 points were the most efficient, while the rest of the team fell seriously short.

Oklahoma's rival in the grand final is still unknown, though the Indiana Pacers have a 3-1 lead in the series against the New York Knicks and will tonight (03.00) have the first match point in front of their home fans.
