The Championship is the African qualifying tournament for the 2023 World Men’s Handball Championship in Poland and Sweden.
Kenya Handball men's national team have landed pool B that has Algeria, Gabon and Guinea in a repeat draw to the CAHB African Cup of Nations set for 9 to 19 July.
The draw for the 25th edition of the showpiece for senior men's teams, took place on Thursday 26 May at 9pm (EAT) in Egypt as the continental body confirmed the competition will now be held in Egypt and not Morocco as initially scheduled.
A draw conducted on 8 December at the headquarters of the African Handball Confederation (CAHB) in Abidjan had set the event for Morocco from 13 to 23 January.

However, a postponement was necessitate following the request of many member federations.
In the initial draw Kenya had landed a tough pool B that had 2020 semi finalists Angola, the then hosts-to-be Morocco and Nigeria.
At the end of the preliminary round, the first two teams from each of the four groups will qualify for the Quarter-Finals, Semi-finals and Final.
The last edition of the biennial competition saw Egypt dethrone Tunisia to book a ticket to the Tokyo Olympics Games. Kenya, participating for the third time after a debut in 2004 and again in 2016 lost all their three group matches for an early exit in the main Cup contention.
The Peter Mwathi-coached men arrived in Tunisia late in their last outing, missing their opening match against Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) who were awarded a 10-0 win as per competition rules.

Kenya then faced Egypt the following day, losing 19-44 before going down 26-17 to Guinea in the final match. The side lost by a solitary goal to Libya at 27-26 in the placement matches and 14-30 to Nigeria. They won a fifteenth-place match 28-17 against Zambia.
Kenya has another chance to do better at the level and with it, a chance to qualify for next year's World Championships set for Poland and Sweden. The top five teams book tickets to the global event.
