30 Kenyan players to benefit from World Tennis Junior Tournament in Nairobi

The three-week competition will together some of the most promising young tennis players from across the world

Thirty Kenyan tennis players are expected to earn themselves a chance at valuable ranking points, when they take part in the World Tennis Tour Junior tournament at Nairobi Club, for the next three weeks.

This comes after Nairobi was granted the opportunity to host the developmental tournament, which is expected to offer a competitive pathway for young tennis players across the world to develop their skills.

Further, the players will earn international ranking points and prepare for future careers at the highest levels of the sport.

Over three weeks beginning Sunday, 28 June, talented junior athletes will range from countries including: Kenya, China, Hong Kong, India, South Africa, Uganda, Madagascar, Ghana, Ethiopia, Ireland, Korea, Canada, Czech Republic, Australia, Spain, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Unites Arab Emirates, Israel, USA, Zimbabwe, Germany, Belgium, Great Britain, Serbia and Rwanda.

Speaking ahead of the competition, Tennis Kenya said: “This tournament showcases the future stars of world tennis and provides an important pathway for junior athletes to gain international experience. We are delighted to welcome players to Nairobi for three weeks of world-class competition."

As per the competition schedule, the first two weeks will feature two round-robin J30 competitions, expected to run till Saturday, 11 July.

The last week will feature an elimination J60 tournament, set for Sunday, 12 to Saturday, 18 July.

The tournament, which also highlights Kenya's growing reputation as a destination for international sporting events, is expected to attract coaches, officials, parents, and tennis enthusiasts from across the continent and beyond.
