
Volleyball : KVF release league schedule as new teams join

For the first time in recent history Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) has released the season’s fixtures ahead of time with the league expected to serve off on 2 November at the Koitalel Samoei University grounds in Mosoriot.
The women's league will have 12 teams, up from the 10 that started last season while the men’s league maintains its 16 teams with Base Yetu and CAU joining the top-tier league from division one. Newly-assembled Bunge team and Maranatha makes it 12 with Vihiga County team who dropped out mid-season in the 2023 season back in action in the women’s league.
“We are thrilled to announce that a dozen elite women's teams have officially confirmed their participation in the upcoming 2023/2024 season of the Kenya Volleyball Federation National League," a communique from the federation via their social media platforms reads confirming the inclusion of the two women’s teams.
The fixtures have been grouped in sequences, the men’s league holding 8 matches per sequence that ensuring every team is in action while the women’s side has six matches scheduled per sequence. The dates for each sequence will be announced later.
In the women’s league, the two new teams and the returning Vihiga will be joined by holders Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) runners-up from the just-concluded playoffs Kenya Pipeline as well as former champions Prisons Kenya.
Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Nairobi Water, Prisons Nairobi, Post Bank and Kenya Army complete the list for the 2023/24 league.
In the men’s league, newly-crowned Prisons Kenya men will fight to retain the title they had missed out on since 2016 while dethroned General Service Unit (GSU), Kenya Ports Authority (KPA), KDF and Trailblazers lead the charge to deny the warders a back-to-back championship.
