Students from all over the country will battle for bragging rights in hockey, basketball, rugby15s, swimming, cross country, heptathlon, and decathlon

Coast Region

Former national champions Kaya Tiwi from Coast Region walloped Mwasere from Taita Taveta county over the weekend to secure a spot in the Nationals after an emphatic 107-11 win.

Similarly, Dr Aggrey under the guidance of coach Robert Aran trounced noisy neighbors Timbila Secondary School 49-30 to book a place in the national bus, in the same discipline.

The former champions at the national level defied a strong contention from Timbila in the first quarter that had ended in a 6-6 stalemate to make a comeback to the event set for April.

In handball boys, Mwangea Boys High School dethroned champions Tsangatsini from Kilifi to secure a pass following their impressive 32-19 victory while Mombasa Moi Girls Forces will fly the county girls' handball flag after drubbing Kaya Tiwi 23-19.

There is a new rugby champion in Coast as Marafa beat Oda 9-0 to collect the national ticket while in hockey, the boys' crown went to St. Charles Lwanga who defeated Kenyatta Mwatate 5-0 to head to the nationals. The girls' crown went to the same school after they registered a 2-0 win over Matuga.

At Malindi High School grounds, athletics competitions ended with a great display of talent. Emily Matata led a one-two finish for Taita Taveta in girls' 10,000 m. Samuel Alfred of Barani secured the farthest throw in Javelin to join a host of other athletes heading to Machakos. Kwale County won the athletics trophy, with Kilifi and Taita Taveta settling for the second and third place respectively.

Western Region

In the Western Region, basketball defending champions Butere Girls effortlessly cruised past pre-tournament favorites Tigoi Girls from Vihiga to qualify for the finals.

Butere laid bare their intentions of defending the champions after seeing apart Nangina Girls, St. Cecilia Misikhu Girls, and Bunyore Girls High School on their way to the last two.

In the boys’ category, Sigalame High School defeated another favorite in Friends School Kamusinga in the final to qualify for the Nationals.

The duo went neck to neck up to the final whistle, but Sigalame emerged victorious to grab the Western region basketball slot.

In rugby, Butula Boys recorded a labored 10-3 win over Koyonzo Boys to book a place in the finals having previously seen off Vihiga High School, Chavakali Boys, and Kimobo on the way to the regional last two stages.

In the newly introduced girls’ rugby 15s, Madira Girls will fly the Western region flag in Machakos.

Moi Girls Kamusinga and St. Luke Kimilili Boys both from Bungoma County won the girls' and boys' handball tickets respectively while Tigoi Girls got the rights to carry the flag in hockey. The boys' hockey category still awaits a decision from the jury before the announcement of official results.
