Paris 2024: Time and where to watch Malkia Strikers search for maiden Olympic victory against Poland
Reading Time: 2min | Wed. 31.07.24. | 08:11
This is the fourth time Malkia are participating in the Olympics having taken part in 2000, 2004 and 2020 but are yet to win a single game
Kenya women’s volleyball team - Malkia Strikers - will on Wednesday night seek to get back on track and possibly nick their maiden win at the Olympic Games when they face Poland in their second Pool B contest at the South Paris Arena 1.
Malkia, who round up as 10-time African champions, served off their Paris 2024 Games with a sorry 3-0 (25-14, 25-13, 25-12) defeat to second-seeded Brazil on Monday and will be hopeful that lessons learned there will spark a sort of upturn in the 10 pm (EAT) contest.
“Our next opponents, Poland, are a strong team, and having played Brazil, that serves as an eye-opener because most of the players realize we can do better,” Malkia Strikers head coach Japheth Munala said on Monday. “The opening match is always difficult, but now we know what to plan on to approach the next match."

Buoyed by the team’s reception, Munala intends to see fewer unforced errors and a better off-net defense.
In Poland, however, Kenya comes up against two-time Olympic bronze-medalists and a team that is ranked third in the FIVB world standings.
In their opening Pool B contest on Sunday, they rallied from a set down to brush off opponents Japan 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-23, 28-26).
Past meetings between Kenya and Poland cut across the World Grand Prix, World Cup, and World Championships have ended in all wins (3-0) for the two-time FIVB Women's Volleyball Nations League bronze-medalists.
The East Africans lost 3-1 to the Europeans at the World Championships way back in 2006.
With two teams making it out of the pool, perhaps more impetus to bag a history win tonight!
The match will be beamed live on Kenya's state broadcaster KBC and Supersport.
