The sports agency will now see him seemlessly transition from a national swimmer to a fully recognized swim coach

Genesis Swimming Club's Rodgers Tobiko is set to make a splash in the swimming coaching world.

Tobiko, a fourth-year computer science student at Kenyatta University, recently signed with Genesis Swimming Club and is now preparing for the Kenya Swimming Teachers and Coaches Association (KSTCA) Level 1 Coaching Course.

The course kicks off on December 4, 2023, at Westlands Primary School.

A natural in the water, Tobiko's swimming journey began in his hometown of Loitokitok in Kajiado, where he honed his skills in local rivers. His talent flourished at Kenyatta University, where he evolved from playful river swims to competitive national and level 3 swimming.

Tobiko's commitment to the sport is unwavering, as he promises to continue training and competing even after his upcoming graduation in December.

Genesis Swimming Club, recognizing his potential, signed him up from the Kenyatta University swim club popularly known as Piranaz.

The Sports Agency, through its Head coach Alex Kaindi, has committed to supporting Tobiko's transition from a national swimmer to a fully recognized swim coach.

This move highlights Tobiko's remarkable journey from a village swimmer to a professional athlete and showcases his ambition to inspire the next generation of swimmers through coaching.

Tobiko says that swimming has rejuvenated his life as a student-athlete and helped him steer away from negative influences such as unhealthy relationships, drug abuse, and even crime.

Genesis Swim Club has also in the past months secured deals with swimming talents, including bringing on board Jeff Muturi, a swimmer and fourth-year Civil Engineering student at JKUAT.

Among the benefits for swimmers include; being equipped with the necessary resources and support to further elevate their swimming careers.
