GSU remains the team to beat this season despite missing some key players in their ranks

Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) men’s leg third leg gets underway on Friday 10 to 12 March at Nyayo National Stadium indoor and outdoor arenas with teams fighting for crucial points to qualify for this season’s playoffs.

Silver medalists Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) under head coach Sammy Mulinge are out to pick maximum points when they take on Prisons Nairobi, Kenya Army and Prisons Nyanza.

While these might look like easy matches for the dockers, coach Mulinge admits that they have to be cautious in their approach as the team is yet to get back to their usual training regimen due to managerial issues.

In the second leg played at Nyayo last month, KPA forfeited the first match against Prisons Central, who were also a no-show, as the team had not trained and their request for postponement was not done within the stipulated times.

“We are grateful to the management for allowing us to honour the third leg matches as they straighten up the issues that have kept us from training. While we have not prepared well for this weekend matches, we will work with what we have and I remain confident we will deliver,” Mulinge said.

This weekend’s action will see holders and leaders General Service Unit (GSU) take on Kenya Forest Service (KFS), Prisons Mombasa and Prisons Central as the Gideon Tarus led men prepare for the upcoming East Africa Police Championship.

Former champions Prisons Kenya take on Equity Bank, Trailblazers and Prisons Rift Valley as the David Lugh’aho- coached side look to go unbeaten in the third leg.
