Rally driver Maxine Wahome has formally been charged with the murder of Asad Khan

Maxine Wahome, the prime suspect in the murder of her deceased boyfriend Asad Khan, has been charged with murder at the High Court. She is accused of killing her boyfriend by stabbing him multiple times with a kitchen knife.

The incident occurred on the night of 25th February at the couple's home in Nairobi. According to the prosecution, Maxine and her boyfriend had a heated argument that escalated into a physical altercation. Maxine allegedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed her boyfriend multiple times, leading to his death.

The police arrested Maxine the following day and held her in custody for further investigation. After conducting a thorough investigation, the police forwarded the case to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), who has now approved charges against Maxine.

Last month, Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Bernard Ochoi gave the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) a 15-day deadline to submit a report on whether to charge Maxine in connection with the death of Khan.

Detectives had initially planned to charge Maxine with causing grievous bodily harm, but their plans changed after Khan passed away in hospital due to injuries inflicted during a scuffle between the two

Maxine appeared before the High Court this morning, where she was charged with murder. She pleaded not guilty to the charge and was remanded in custody pending a bail hearing.

The murder case has attracted public attention. The court has scheduled the next hearing for 20th April, and the case is expected to proceed expeditiously.
