Tanzanian boxer Karim Mandonga aka Mtu Kazi will fight in Nairobi on Saturday 14th January

Karim Mandonga, Tanzania's boxing sensation will on Saturday 14th January fight in Nairobi for the first time.

Franklin Imbenzi from Solid Rock Promotions confirmed the development to Mozzart Sport.

"It is true Mandonga will be in Kenya. He has officially signed the contract, we are excited and looking forward to hosting him." He said.

Mandonga's opponent will be known in the coming days.

The two will be curtain-raising for the Rayton Okwiri versus Kassim Ouma middleweight fight that was initially set to take place in Kampala, Uganda on Monday 26th December but failed to take place after Okwiri demanded to be paid before the fight.

"Professionally, a boxer should be paid partly after the weighing-in and the medical checks. The balance should be cleared after the fight and therefore Okwiri was well within his rights to demand for the payment before taking to the ring." Imbenzi said.

Imbenzi now assures that everything is in place for the fight to take place in Nairobi.

"We are finalising the plans and we should have all the details in the coming days."
