KHF host three-day referees' training at Nyayo

The exercise comes a few weeks to the league resumption.

Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) on Tuesday, 19 April began a three-day referees training exercise at the Nyayo Handball Court ahead of the 2022 league commencement. 

For the first day, 30 referees enlisted for the training that is being conducted by CAHB instructor George Asimeto and his International Handball Federation (IHF) Charles Omondi. 

Of the 30, 16 are training for the entry level whistle blowing while 14 are upgrading , after which they will be certified. Upgrading whistle blowers are expected to surrender their current level licence. 

The training is meant to improve referee performance and equip them with the current refereeing techniques and rules of the game. This also prepares the referees fir the upcoming season as the training includes fitness tests," offered Asimeto.

Meawhile, the league is set to begin next month. The 2021 league champions Nairobi Water Queens and National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) will be out to defend the women's and men's titles.

The two sides have dominated the league in the recent past, including in the Super Cup. Last month, the two sides won the pre-season Cup tournament.
