The occasion will fete all National Championship winners in Motocross, Enduro and Rally Raid (Bike Class) as well as Regional Champions in Kenya and Uganda
The Motorcycle Sports Federation of Kenya (MSFK) Annual Awards Ceremony will take place on Saturday, 10 February at Offroad Adventures EA in Karen from 12.30pm to 5.00pm.
The annual event, set to feature both Sporting and Non-Sporting recipients, will not only celebrate excellence in various Motorcycle Sports disciplines, but also recognize invaluable contributions of the community to the broader spectrum of "Beyond Sports.".
Among the categories in the ceremony will be the Angus Young Award, Karin Bernardi Award, Lady Rider of the Year, Meritorious Award, Sustainability Award, Women in Motorcycling, Personality of the Year, Club of the Year as well as Appreciation Plaques for various notable personalities who made valued contribution to the sport.
“MSFK is not just a sports federation, its structure is similar to that of FIM (International Motorcycling Federation), which also includes ‘beyond sports’ activities such as medical, leisure and touring, road safety and advocacy, sustainability and women in motorcycling," Renzo Bernardi, President of MSFK said.
Beyond sports activities for 2023 included the prestigious Concours D’Elegance hosted Alfa Romeo Owners Club as well as community engagement programs such as Ubuntu Run, Bikers’ Pray Day, leisure rides, road safety, gender parity, mental health awareness, and sustainability initiatives hosted Private Bikers Association of Kenya and Women Bikers Association.
As is the norm, the occasion will fete all National Championship winners in Motocross, Enduro, and Rally Raid (Bike Class) as well as Regional Champions in the prestigious FIM Africa Central Africa Challenge (CAC)- traditionally held on a home- and-away basis in Kenya and Uganda.
Athletes who represented the Country at the FIM-sanctioned events will also earn recognition for their resilience against foreign riders, as will 15 competitors who represented the country at the 2023 FIM Africa CAC (MX) in Uganda.
“As a token of appreciation, all national series riders for the 2023 season will be honored with a certificate of participation,” Renzo added. "Our success in 2023 would not have been possible without the contribution of our volunteers and officials at club and association level who have made significant contributions to the growth and development of motorcycling in Kenya.
“They work selflessly behind the scenes, ensuring that events run smoothly and that riders have the necessary support and resources to succeed.”
Eighteen dedicated competitors who did duty for Kenya in the FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations (MXOAN) in Cape Town will also be feted, even as the occasion is set to recognise a Kenyan who graced the Roof of Africa (Hard Enduro) in Lesotho.
The motorcycling sporting season for 2023 featured a total of 19 national series events: 9 in motocross 6 in enduro and 4 in rally raid (bike category) as well as three FIM-sanctioned events including FIM Africa Motocross of African Nations (MXoAN) and FIM Africa Central African Challenge Cup.
