Warriors are looking to defend the title they won in 2019 while KPA eye the title they last won in 2018.

Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) men's basketball side will host Ulinzi Warriors in Mombasa on 16 and 17 April in Mombasa as the KBF final dates have finally been settled on.

In a communique to the team managers of the two sides, Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) jas set the best-of-five final matches for the Easter weekend with Game Three to Five set for Nairobi on 23 to 25.

The decision has been reached following deliberations of the Executive Committee virtual meeting held on 26 March 2022 where it was resolved that the series would be played on said dates.

The dockers made it to the final after an appeal verdict handed the Mombasa-based side Game Five of their semis match against Equity Dumas.

The bankers had taken a two-game lead in Nairobi but their trip to Mombasa was not as productive as they lost Game Three and Four and were well on their way to winning Game Five before the bankers walked out citing security reasons.

"Following a protest presented by Equity Bank team and a subsequent appeal made by KPA on the decision by the League and Competitions Committee (LCC), the matter was then referred to an Independent Disciplinary and Complaints Committee (IDCC).

Consequently, the IDCC deliberated over the matter and has since released the verdict with KPA being awarded the game.

This means KPA wins the semi-finals series on a 3-2 basis and proceeds to the finals. In consideration of a request by Ulinzi team, which has internal sporting activities towards the official commissioning of their Sports Complex in Lang’ata, the final series could not start as anticipated," read the federation communique proceeding to state the dates for the final.
