Former Real Madrid winger is not new to golfing tournaments, but since his football retirement in January, this was his first pro appearance in another sport

There's no doubt Gareth Bale was one of the best footballers in the world for some time, winning numerous silverware with Real Madrid and taking his Wales to the heights of European football.

But in January, he ended that chapter of his life and turned to golf, wanting to make an impact in another sport. And if it's to believe his first pro steps in golf, he'll be just fine with a smaller ball and golf club instead of a foot.

He claimed an impressive joint-16th finish at Pebble Beach Pro-Am on PGA Tour debut.

"The last couple of weeks have been amazing," said the former Real Madrid forward, who plays off a two handicap.

"People giving me compliments on my game is incredible, they have put a bit too much pressure on my shoulders!

"I am a big golf fan and appreciate what these players do on the golf course. It is great to play with them, interact and watch what they do," concluded Bale.
