The driver achieved his career best result of fourth overall at Safari Rally in Kenya this year.
An announcement from M-Sport has confirmed they could not reach an agreement with Fergus ‘Gus’ Greensmith to enable him to continue behind the wheel of one of its Puma cars, meaning both parties will go their separate ways in 2023.
It brings an end to the long-term partnership which saw Greensmith climb through the ranks to reach the top level of rallying.
Gus, you entered the sport with us 8 years ago, from your first events in an R1 to a Puma Rally1 against the best in the world. It’s a sad day, as today, Gus and M-Sport part ways. This isn’t the end or a goodbye. It’s a sincere and heartfelt thanks. All the best for the future. pic.twitter.com/BIU0lkv6dz

The Briton, now 25, began his adult rallying career at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta R1 before switching to the R2T model for back-to-back Drive DMACK Cup campaigns.
An upgrade to one of M-Sport’s R5-specification Fiestas soon followed, with Greensmith joining the squad’s WRC2 team at the beginning of the 2019 season.
During that year he also debuted a Fiesta World Rally Car at Vodafone Rally de Portugal, making his second top-tier appearance soon afterwards in Finland as an injury replacement for Elfyn Evans.

Greensmith undertook a part campaign with the same car in 2020 and, in 2021, contested all 12 rallies, achieving a career best result of fourth overall at Safari Rally Kenya.
He finished 10th in this year’s championship and also celebrated his maiden stage win at the season-opening Rallye Monte-Carlo.
While Greensmith is yet to reveal any plans for the future, WRC.com understands he is likely to feature at some events in 2023. In what car - and in which category, remains to be confirmed.
