
CAVB Club Championships: Kenya Prisons beat APR to top Pool C

The wardresses face the fourth-placed side in pool A in the round of 16
Josp Barasa's charges, twice came from behind to pick victories in respective sets and win the match against Rwanda's APR in straight sets in Tunisia earlier today.
The Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) champions needed the win to top pool C and land a favourable draw in the round of 16 at the ongoing Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB) women's club championship in Tunisia.
Barasa handed Herma Jepyego a starting berth as the setter with Emmaculate Chemutai in opposite while Lorine Chebet and Ann Lowem were on middle blocking duties.

Skipper Brackcides Agala started as the outside hitter as did songstress Meldine Sande while Elizabeth Wanyama was on libero duties.
It was a closely contested first set but the wardresses dominated to bag the first set 25-20. In the second set that Barasa had introduced Yvonne Wavinya for Sande, the Kenyans found themselves trailing at 14-16 nut a few substitution brought them back into the game as they went on to win the set 25-20.
A similar script played out in the third set as Prisons found themselves trailing 1-7 early in the set. Barasa's charges cut the deficit to three at 8-11 and donw to two at 13-15. Prisons assumed lead at 19-18 and did not look back as they bagged the set 25-20 for maximum points.
"I am happy for the performance in today's match especially against a side as good as APR. We trailed as some points in the match but our left attackers Wavinya and Sande played a crucial part in the comebacks.

Everyone played their part in this victory and our bench was our secret weapon as our substitutions really worked," expressed an elated Barasa.
After the threw group matches, the wardresses top pool C and are set to face the fourth-placed side in pool A that has hosts Kelibia, Rwanda's RRA, Cameroon's FAP and VCL of Congo.
"We are yet to know whom we will face in the round of 16 but we are prepared for the challenge as we look to qualify for the last eight," added Barasa.
