The dockers are yet to lose a match in the regular league.
Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) women's basketball team had an easy trip in Nairobi this weekend as they picked back-to-back wins to move closer to an unbeaten regular league run.
On Saturday, the holders who are yet to taste defeat, thrashed Kenyatta University Oryx 79-16 in a dominant show that ended with the varsity side scoring only two points in the entire second half.
In Sunday's game, the dockers faced off with Storms, putting up another stellar show to restrict the Abel Nson-led Storms to 15 points while scoring 72.
"With all due respect to the other teams in the league, I believe we are the team to beat and favourites to defend the title.
I have the depth, with the return of Hilda Indasi who has been away and the signing of Ifunaya Okoro as well as Hilda Ndengwa," offered KPA head coach Antony Ojukwu.
The tactician has further empathized on the need for competition in the local league arguing that this will help the sides that get the chance to feature in regional tournaments get better.
"I am building my squad with the Zone Five and African Cup competitions in mind. The kind of resistance we face in these tournaments requires that we be playing against tough teams in all levels and the national league would be a good place to have that," Ojukwu said.
In another women's league match, K.U Orxy let go of their good start against Eagle Wings and were forced to win the match in overtime, picking a 49-47 win.
The Caleb Osewe-coached side had a good start, scoring 17 against nine but were overpowered 06-09 in the second quarter to lead by five points going in to the break.
On resumption, Eagle Wings fought for a 12-06 score to assume lead by a single point. The final quarter ended 13-14 in favour of the varsity side forcing the match into overtime where Osewe's charges scored six against four for the victory.
