The dockers are chasing the zone five title they last won in 2017.
FIBA Africa Zone Five Most Valuable Player (MVP) Victoria Reynolds will suit up for Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) in their quest to reclaim the Zone Five Women's Club title they won in 2017.
Also joining her is another Kenya Lionesses' utility player Brenda Wasuda who was part of the national squad that did duty during the Women's Afrobasket championships in Cameroon.
The championship is set to throw off on November 18 to 23 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania with eight teams having confirmed participation so far.
They include the two Kenyan representatives, the Kenya Basketball Federation (KBF) women’s league champions Equity Hawks and KPA, Burundi’s Gladiator, Ethiopia’s Wolkite, Rwandese duo of REG and Hoops BBC as well as hosts JKT and Don Bosco.
The duo joins the Antony Ojukwu-coached side at a time when the tactician was sweating over the absence of key players Hilda Indasi and Celine Okumu who have been instrumental for the dockers in their campaign to recapture the KBF women's title from Equity Hawks. Celia Okumu who joined the Mombasa-based team this season is also missing in action.
Reynolds will be experiencing club basketball for the first time in the continent as she features for KPA, having only suited up for the national team in this year's Women's Afrobasket qualifiers and championship.
"Having Reynolds and Wasuda in the squad is a big boost for us. We were looking for players who can comfortably step in the shoes of the missing players and the two are a perfect fit. We held our training in Dar es Salaam on Tuesday and morale in camp is high and the players are raring to go," said coach Ojukwu.
Also missing on KPA's playing unit is Brenda Angeshi who has switched to the technical bench and is now serving as Ojukwu's assistant coach.
