Just a week after their barren draw in the league, Gor Mahia and Murang'a Seal faced off in the Mozzart Bet Cup semi-finals, where once again, the game ended in a draw, but K'Ogalo emerged victorious on post-match penalties.

After a 2-2 draw, Seal scoring through Michael Owen and Wilson Kamau, with K'Ogalo finding the back of the net through Bryson Wangai and Alpha Onyango, the game had to be decided on shootouts.

Gor Mahia scored all their five attempts while Harun Mwale’s spotkick was saved by Gad Mathews to see K'Ogalo book a ticket to the finals.

Speaking after the match, Chipo attributed the loss to missed chances by his team on the counterattack.

“After scoring, there is nothing to do again and especially because my team is not that good, so we were just soaking pressure and hitting them on the counter, which we succeeded, but did not utilise our chances.

As for the penalties, anyone can win in a shootout, and it did not go our way this time,” said Chipo.

The former Harambee Stars assistant coach also blamed the effect of their early goal, which then brought out one of his team's weaknesses

“We scored an early goal, which sometimes is not good for the team. Our team has had problems conceding goals, and that is what happened in the second half,” he added.

Nevertheless, the former Nzoia Sugar FC coach conceded defeat and said he will shift focus to the FKF Premier League.

“I want to congratulate Gor and wish them all the best in their Mozzart Bet Cup journey. We will go back to training and prepare for Mara Sugar.”

Despite their ouster, the Murang'a-based side will still earn a monetary reward for reaching the money bracket of the Mozzart Bet Cup.

Seal will walk home with either Ksh700,000 if they win the third-place playoff or Ksh500,000 if they finish fourth.

The winner of the Mozzart Bet Cup will be Ksh2 million richer while the runners up will pocket Ksh1 million - all courtesy of leading gaming firm, Mozzart Bet.
