Bayern Munich are apparently more than interested in Bayer Leverkusen's Ivorian-born centre-back

Jerome Boateng left a significant trace at Allianz Arena during his ten-year tenure. He won nine Bundesliga titles, conquered Europe twice... But after the German international of Ghanaian origins left Bayer Munich in 2021, the Bavarians spent more than €160m on his successors - Dayot Upamecano, Matthias De Light and Kim Min-jeo - and none of them were able to live up to expectations.

That's why Bayern have now turned to Boateng's look-a-like in terms of defensive skills, determination, and African background.

According to Sky Sports Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, the Bavarians have verbally agreed with the man who led Bayer Leverkusen's defence in one of the club's most impressive seasons ever.

As Jonathan Tah, 28, is in the final year of his contract with the new Bundesliga champion, the price should not be too high. The experienced central defender of Ivorian origins, with 25 appearances for the German national team and 274 Bundesliga appearances, is worth around €30m, according to Transfermarkt.

Tah is a similar type of player to Boateng - a right-footed, physically dominant sweeper with a height of 1,95m, who is expected to have a massive role at the upcoming European Championship.
