Barcelona star Lamine Yamal storms off after a sideline spat with assistant coach Jose Ramon de la Fuente. Flick stays calm, but sparks fly behind the scenes
Barcelona cruised to a comeback victory over Atletico Madrid, capitalised on Real Madrid's slip at Mallorca, and extended their lead in the title race to seven points. But big clubs come with big personalities, and at Camp Nou, all eyes were on the temperamental young star, Lamine Yamal.
During the match, Yamal frequently gestured in frustration, and as he left the pitch, he muttered something at coach Hansi Flick. It soon emerged, however, that his irritation wasn't directed at Flick himself, but at his assistant.
❗️😡El motivo del enfado de Lamine Yamal fue José Ramón de la Fuente, entrenador de porteros del Barça.

Jose Ramon de la Fuente, Barcelona's goalkeeping coach and strategist for set pieces and other tactical details, apparently overstepped during the Atletico clash. After Los Colchoneros took an early lead and Barcelona snatched the win with Robert Lewandowski's 87th-minute goal, tensions flared.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Yamal clashed with De la Fuente over repeated criticism and constant gesturing. The assistant coach allegedly took issue with Yamal for trying to finish several attacking moves himself rather than passing to teammates in better positions. While Yamal had already created chances for others, the star forward clearly wanted to take responsibility in key moments.
Two visible incidents showed De la Fuente advising Yamal to release the ball faster - once when he lost possession, and again when a shot went over the bar. Yamal's response?
"What do you want from me?" he shot back, at least twice, clearly fed up with the constant sideline lectures, even muttering something as he headed to the locker room.
Flick, ever the calm presence, downplayed the incident.
"I don't know exactly what happened. There were a lot of emotions. Lamin did everything he could to score. Not everything was perfect, but he always tried and offered himself. We have three days to prepare for the next match, and I'm sure he'll be in a better mood," the coach said after the game.
The following day, ahead of their UEFA Champions League rematch with Atletico, Flick admitted he had seen the video but hadn't yet spoken to Yamal - confident that the spat had already been put behind them.
Even De la Fuente knows Barcelona's priorities. While speculation once suggested he might leave after Marc-Andre ter Stegen departed, he remains a respected part of the staff. He's been with Barcelona since 2012, part of Tito Vilanova's coaching setup, and retains responsibility for goalkeepers, even under Flick's expert Toni Tapalovic. His experience, loyalty, and La Masia roots make him a fixture at Camp Nou, despite the occasional clash with fiery young talents like Yamal.
