Xavi could be the next Guardiola

Ilkay Gundogan, who found himself in the midst of controversy after his statements following the Clasico, where he expressed his frustration over his teammates' reaction in the dressing room after the defeat, has now disclosed two conversations with Xavi Hernandez and Pep Guardiola.

On one hand, the captain of the German national team admits that Xavi played a key role in his move to Barca, despite Manchester City's attempts to renew his contract until the very last day.

"I have a good relationship with Xavi. I came to Barcelona because of him and spoke with him twice before speaking on the phone. I think we have great compatibility."

On the other hand, Gundogan also explained a recent meeting with his former coach at City, Pep Guardiola, in Barcelona.

"I recently visited Pep at his home in Barcelona, and we talked. He told me that if I or my family needed anything in Barcelona, I could always contact him."

Asked about the similarities between both coaches, Gundogan said Xavi is following in Pep's footsteps.

"Pep has many years of experience, while Xavi is in his fifth season as a coach and third in Europe, but their vision of football is similar."
