Police got the job done in the absence of coach Beldine Odemba who's in Angola with the Rising Starlets.
Puren Alukwe grabbed a hattrick as newly assembled and renamed Kenya Police Bullets FC started their 2023–24 FKF Women’s Premier League campaign with a 5-2 win over newbies Bungoma Queens at the Police Sacco Grounds on Saturday afternoon.
Last week, the law enforcers were not in action as their matchday one opponent, Madira Assasins, produced a big chunk of the players who were in action for the Rising Starlets against Angola in the World Cup qualifier.
Two minutes in, former Zetech Sparks forward Alukwe scored for Police, a lead that lasted three minutes before an own goal drew Queens level. Alukwe got her second in the 38th minute before Winnie Gwatenda got her first for the season in the 44th minute to hand the police side a 3-1 halftime lead.
The start of the second half was less dramatic, and it took 28 minutes for the first goal of the second half to be scored through Lucy Kwekwe, who extended the law enforcers’ lead. Alukwe completed her hattrick in the 78th, and in the process, Lydia Akoth registered her third assist of the game.

In Lang’ata, FKF Women’s Premier League giants Ulinzi Starlets bounced back from last weekend’s defeat to Vihiga Queens with a convincing 3-0 triumph over Wadadia at their Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Last week, the soldiers fell 2-1 to the defending champions, and heading into the game against the Kakamega County-based side, they needed a statement result, which they got. Lucy Nato, Neddy Atieno, and Lavender Akinyi scoring for the convincing win.
At Imani Stadium in Ruiru, the Nakuru City Queens came from behind to beat the Zetech Sparks 2-1. Sherril Chaviha gave Zetech a first-half lead before Queen came back strongly to win through goals from Mercy Wafula and Lena Nasimiyu.
