The Law Enforcers and Vihiga Queens met at the Police Sacco Stadium from 1400 hrs in what was the highlight of a packed Saturday league action.

Ahead of Saturday's matches, Police were at the top of the league with 43 points, two more than Ulinzi Starlets, but with a game in hand as Trinity Starlets rounded up the top three with 33 points.

With the Kisumu duo of Kisped Queens and Kisumu All Starlets already relegated due to the issuance of walkovers, Madira Soccer Assassins were at the bottom of the 10-team league table with 12 points to their name.

The Law Enforcers began the match positively and would open what turned out to be a flurry of goals in the 15th minute through Rising Starlets forward Emily Moranga from a curling shot.

The youngster would then take only five minutes to grab her second of the day and kill the paucity hopes held by Vihiga Queens.

As has been her nature this season, Margaret Kunihira scored a beauty in the 37th minute to ensure that the defending champions took a three-goal lead to the break.

In the second half, Teresa Engesha, who had been constantly knocking in the opening half, found the back of the net in the 55th minute.

Three minutes later, Kunihira made a brilliant run behind the Vihiga defense and found Lorna Nyarinda with a cross that the latter blasted into the back of the net to take the score to 5-0.

From the hour mark, each Police player was now targeting to register their name on the scoresheet even as they toyed around with a hapless Vihiga side.

It was Kunihira who would score the next goal in the 65th minute after getting to the end of a neat build-up by the two-time league champions.

Three minutes later, former Kibera Soccer Women forward Faith Mboya ended her season goal drought, scoring her first goal for the club and the seventh for Police.

With full time approaching, Zainab Namuleme and Rebecca Okwaro got on the scoresheet in the 89th and 91st minute respectively to give Police a 9-0 win- their biggest victory of the season and compound Vihiga’s woes this campaign.

Ulinzi Starlets 5-0 Gideon Starlets

Ulinzi Starlets bounced back from their deflating 3-0 loss to Kenya Police Bullets with a convincing 5-0 thumping of Gideon Starlets in a match played at the Ulinzi Sports Complex from 1100 hrs.

Ulinzi began the match brightly and had their opening chance in the 10th minute when Elizabeth Mideva got to the end of a loose ball and unleashed a shot, but it was well gathered by the goalkeeper.

The Harambee Starlets forward was not to be denied in the 16th minute when she directed her strike into the back of the net to break the deadlock.

The goal seemed to have unsettled Gideon Starlets, who were on a damage limitation mission as they conceded a second just four minutes later through a Shaline Nambengele effort.

Sensing danger from the second goal, the visitors upped their tempo and took a goal-bound shot, but it was headed out for a corner by Rising Starlets defender Lorine Ilavonga.

The first half battle continued, but there were no further goals as Ulinzi took a two-goal lead to the break.

In the second half, Berveline Adika scored Ulinzi’s third in the 64th minute to register her first goal for the club.

Nambengele scored her second of the day in the 79th minute before Mideva completed the rout in the 94th minute to ensure the military side secured a 5-0 win.

Kibera Soccer Women 4-3 Bungoma Queens

Reigning FKF Cup champions Kibera Soccer Women survived a last-minute scare to cruise to a 4-3 comeback victory over Bungoma Queens in an entertaining match held at the Dandora Stadium.

Bungoma opened the scoring in the seventh minute to take an early lead that lasted for eight minutes as Ann Arusi equalised for the hosts in the 15th minute.

Further goals by Ruth Kurgat and Arusi in the 30th and 32nd minutes, respectively, ensured that the hosts took a 3-1 lead to the break.

Kurgat would then add a fourth in the 69th minute to give Kibera a comfortable 4-1 lead into the last 20 minutes.

However, sloppy defending from the hosts saw Bungoma pull two goals back in the 76th and 93rd minutes to ensure a nervy ending in the match, but Kibera stood tall to grab a 4-3 win.

Madira Soccer Assassins 1-0 Zetech Sparks

At the Nyang’ori High School Grounds, Madira Soccer Assasins got out of the relegation zone after battling out to a 1-0 win over varsity side Zetech Sparks.

With the win, Madira have now taken their point tally to 15, leapfrogging Gideon Starlets, who were beaten by Ulinzi to remain with 14 points.

Kayole Starlets 2-1 Trinity Starlets

In a match played earlier in the day, Kayole Starlets got back to winning ways with a 2-1 comeback victory over Trinity Starlets at the Police Sacco Stadium.
