Teams that contributed two or more players to the national women's senior football team, Harambee Starlets, had their fixtures postponed to a later date.
Heading into Saturday's matches, Kenya Police Bullets sat at the apex of the league table with 15 points and joined in the top three by Trinity Starlets and Vihiga Queens with 13 and 11 points respectively, as none of the top three teams had a fixture this weekend.
Kisumu All Starlets were at the bottom of the log with fellow Nyanza-based sides Kisped Queens and Gideon Starlets joining them in the relegation zone.
Bungoma Queens 2-1 Gideon Starlets
In the first match of the day, Bungoma Queens welcomed Gideon Starlets at the Bungoma National Polytechnic.
The two sides battled out to a goalless first half, before Catherine Khaemba gave Bungoma the lead in the 48th minute.
Gideon Starlets found an equaliser at the hour mark, but their joy could only last three minutes as the hosts restored their lead through Braxides Itambo, this time protecting their lead until the final whistle was blown.
The win took Bungoma Queens’ point tally to seven, leapfrogging Kibera Soccer Women to occupy the eighth position as Gideon remained 10th with three points.
Ulinzi Starlets 3-0 Madira Soccer Assassins
At the Ulinzi Sports Complex, Ulinzi Starlets returned to winning ways with a 3-0 win over Madira Soccer Assassins.
Jacky Chesang gave the military side a first-half lead from her 15th-minute goal before second-half goals from Mercy Airo and Sylvia Rasoa in the 51st and 71st minutes, respectively, sealed victory.
Despite the win, Ulinzi remain fourth on the log but are now tied on 11 points with Vihiga Queens.
Kisumu All Starlets vs Zetech Sparks (Abandoned)
At the Moi Stadium, Kisumu, the match between Kisumu All Starlets and Zetech Sparks was abandoned following a penalty controversy.
With Zetech leading 1-0 in the second half, Kisumu All Starlets were awarded a penalty that Zetech protested. After consultations, the referee rescinded the decision, which led to protests from All Starlets.
With the uncertainty prevailing for long, the referees were forced to leave the field of play as the game ended prematurely. The matter will be solved by the FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee after receiving the match report.
